Nipple Tattooing After Breast Reconstruction

After nipple reconstruction and when all of the incisions are totally healed, tattooing is done to re-create the normal color of the nipple-areola complex. This is a minor procedure done in the office, and it takes about an hour.

Since 2009, Friday has turned her attention to post-operative tattoos, and has aligned with some of the country’s top plastic surgeons for 3D nipple tattoos, areolar repigmentation and illustrative scar therapy.

As of 2015, Friday has performed nipple tattoos under the direct supervision of Dr. Joshua Levine at his Center For Breast Reconstruction in New York City.

Friday was a founding board member of Personal Ink, a charity dedicated to matching mastectomy survivors with tattoo artists for artful scar coverage and emotional restoration.

Friday’s client list includes Oscar, Grammy, Tony, Brit and Olivier Award winners, as well as supermodels and heads of state. Her images have been featured on the cover of a hit album and a Fender-Jackson guitar. She has appeared in publications as diverse as New York Magazine, W, Life, The Huffington Post and the The NY Observer as well as appearing as a TEDx speaker and an expert commentator for CNN, CBS Sunday Morning, The Today Show, BBC Radio1, PRVA TV and IrelandAM.

Friday began her journey into tattoo art with an apprenticeship at the prestigious Inksmith & Rogers which she completed while simultaneously earning degrees in philosophy, art and religion at Jacksonville University in Florida. She continued her studies at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts.
